How this site works

The Viking Striker is a small fan site that keeps itself up to date. Here is how, and who to tell when it gets something wrong.

Who is behind it

One football fan had the idea and makes the decisions. Most of the code is written with an AI coding assistant, and a set of scheduled jobs keep the numbers, fixtures, results and news up to date. Nobody updates this site by hand on a Saturday night. It updates itself, usually within minutes of full time.

It is an independent fan site, not affiliated with the player or the club. Contact has the one address for everything.

Where the numbers come from

Completed seasons are checked by hand against public records and then locked so nothing can overwrite them. The season in progress is refreshed automatically from reliable sources, checked for nonsense, and only then shown. The quiz, the cards and the activity pack are all built from that same results log, which is why they cannot disagree with each other.

When we get it wrong

Automated jobs make mistakes and so do people. If a score, a minute or a fact looks off, tell us at [email protected] and it will be fixed. Every fix a person makes to a stored result is listed, with its reason and source, on the corrections page. We would rather be corrected than be confidently wrong.

The voice

The notes at the top of the homepage are written in one consistent voice from the week's real data. The jokes are aimed at footballs, weather and fate. Never at people.

Promises to every player

There is one site for everyone, of every age. The games start gently and get harder as you play.

• The game, the cards, the quiz and the score predictions never ask for a name, an email or any typed text.
• Card packs are always free. There is nothing to buy and nothing to trade.
• The play pages carry no advertising. Ads appear only on a short list of pages with the site's own writing, and they are non-personalised, the same for every visitor: never chosen from a profile of you.
• Everyone appears as a random code like “Fan 3F9A”, or a name picked from our word lists like “Swift Header 27”, never as themselves.

It is a fan tribute. It is not affiliated with Erling Haaland, Manchester City, the Norwegian FA or anyone else who owns a football.
